Day 2 - (08/11) Lanesboro, MN

The route today was from I-39N to I-90W (MN). The scenery changed during the 408 mile drive into eastern MN. We saw a number of crop duster aircrafts and two wind farms as we passed large, flat corn fields in IL and southern WI. Hills emerged as we headed west in WI toward the Mississippi River. The weather is 81° and sunny with a light breeze.

Travel tip: Don’t believe signs that say to take Exit 275 off I-90W just west of La Crosse, WI. After you cross the Mississipi River the exits go from 276 to 273A&273B. If there’s an Exit 275 … we couldn’t find it.

We’re in Eagle Cliff Campground located along the Root River just off MN route 16. The campground is large, clean and full of recreation amenities. We rate it an 8 on a scale of 10.

We head for SD tomorrow.
